In 2013, I started with SUMDAY. It is a portmanteau of the words "Summary" and "Sunday". One day, on a Sunday, I was sitting in the Sunday sermon of our church Life Access. It used to be really crowded and alive, but it wasn't at the moment. I was wondering why so many people left and I couldn't sit still and do nothing. With a group of creatives, we started SUMDAY. Everyone got a sketchbook and we were drawing and visualizing bible text and stories into funny and bold designs. We did this for 52 weeks to complete the series.
Since some people were not going to the church anymore, we thought we could bring the church to them. We posted each poster every Monday, on Facebook and Instagram (where most of the people hangout nowadays) so everyone who missed the sermon can have a quick recap. Every poster has a tagline (the giveaway of the sermon) and a Bible reference.
After completing the first 52 weeks we decided to make it more interesting by animating the next 52 designs. You can see all the designs and animations at http://untilsumday.tumblr.com/
We held an annual exhibition on Christmas after completing 52 weeks of creating the visuals. Many people came to enjoy the posters and we gave away Christmas cards for them to share with their friends.
